Statement

Maeda’s works center on concepts inspired by the time axis, frames, screen, information density (resolution), and layers inherent in video. In recent years, he has primarily focused on urban themes. Amidst a blurring of the boundary between reality and fiction, he explores the fragility and the humor of an uncertain world by collecting and creating situations where "unreal reality" emerges, focusing on physical phenomena such as reflections in urban spaces.

All of his works are underpinned by an interest in how "things that appear unchanging" are actually "constantly changing," or in the sense of time and processes that give rise to such perceptions.
